Mackey, Holleran, Donohoe, and McKernan: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Damage Associated Molecular Patterns HMGB1 and S100B in Schizophrenia
Psychiatry Investigation 2022;19(12):981-990.
To the Editor
The authors of the recent article “Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Damage Associated Molecular Patterns HMGB1 and S100B in Schizophrenia” published in Volume 19 on December 22, 2022, issue of Psychiatry Investigation1 have noticed minor errors in data extraction in our paper. The authors have now corrected these errors. We want to state that these minor errors do not affect the conclusions in the article. The overall effect size for the HMGB1 meta-analysis has changed from g=0.92 to g=0.91 after correction. The overall effect size for the S100B meta-analysis has changed from g=0.87 to g=0.84.
In the discussion section it was stated that “medicated individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia did not report a statistically significant standardised mean difference between case and control groups.” This is now corrected to “medicated individuals diagnosed with schizophrenia had a lower but significant standardised mean difference between case and control groups.” Corrected versions of the affected figures and tables have now been created.
We apologize to the journal and its readers and are grateful for the opportunity to correct our analysis. We have requested that our article be retracted and replaced with the corrected analysis and results. With this corrected version [1], a copy of the original article with the errors highlighted and a copy with the corrections highlighted are included as new Supplementary Materials 1 and 2 (in the online-only Data Supplement), respectively.
